Interior Design & Features
Flexible Cargo Space
One of the many reasons crossover SUVs, like the 2022 GMC Terrain, have become so popular is that their interiors can handle a changing mix of cargo and people. When the rear seat is fully deployed for passengers, there will still be more than 830 litres (29.6 cubic-feet) of cargo volume to use. In order to accommodate some cargo and passengers, the rear left portion of the backseat can be folded away. Finally, when the entire backseat is properly stowed, there will be nearly 1,800 litres (63.3 cubic-feet) of cargo volume to use.
Interior Materials & Features
Each available 2022 Terrain trim grade comes with a unique set of features, providing the different models with their own personalities. The SLE and SLT models will get a fold-flat front-passenger seat, real aluminum accent trims, and more optional accessories. Buyers choosing the AT4 will find heated front seats and a heated steering wheel in their version of the Terrain, as well as an eight-way power driver’s seat. Denali owners will get front seats with French-stitched leather upholstery, heated rear seats and an 8-inch driver information display.

Performance & Capability
All 2022 GMC Terrain models that arrive at our showroom will have a turbocharged 1.5-litre four-cylinder engine under the hood that will be connected to a nine-speed automatic transmission. It will make 170 horsepower and 203 pound-feet of torque. Versions with all-wheel drive will be able to record 9.6 L/100 km in the city and 8.3 L/100 km on the highway. Buyers choosing front-wheel drive will have fuel economy scores within a few tenths of a point of the AWD figures.
Smooth Ride Control
In keeping with the idea that the Denali version of any GMC vehicle is very special, the 2022 Terrain Denali offers a way for drivers to ensure a smooth ride. The Denali Premium Suspension with Enhanced Shock Control does a lot of work behind the scenes to take the rough ride out of a rough road while also reducing road noise.

GMC Infotainment System
The GMC infotainment system is one of the most capable technologies on the market today. Access to the popular Apple CarPlay and Android Auto suites of applications is standard across all trim grades. This will allow drivers to use their smartphones without having to pick them up. Additionally, a native navigation system is available with SLE, SLT and AT4 models, and standard equipment with Denali trims.
Many of us use the internet for almost anything. Certainly, a lot of those needs can be met using our phones. Owners of the 2022 GMC Terrain have another option by opting in to an available Wi-Fi hotspot. Additionally, owners can interact with their 2022 Terrain through the Amazon Alexa digital home assistant.
Wireless Device Support
Being caught with a dead phone battery is a massive inconvenience. Denali versions of the 2022 Terrain have a centre console that is equipped with a wireless charging tray that will accommodate most smartphones compatible with wireless charging. Users will simply need to slide their phone into the tray and it will be held securely until the battery has enough power.
GMC Pro Safety Plus
The way an automobile protects its passengers has changed a lot in the last several years. Instead of just absorbing a collision, automakers like GMC, use the latest technology to help drivers avoid potentially dangerous situations in the first place. The suite of standard safety systems include:
- Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning
- Automatic Emergency Braking
- Intellibeam Automatic High Beams
- Front Pedestrian Braking
- Following Distance Indicator
- Forward Collision Alert
Additional Safety Features
The six standard GMC Pro Safety Plus features are incredible innovations but our manufacturing partner isn’t done. There are three more features that can be added to the 2022 GMC Terrain:
- Lane Change Alert with Side Blind Zone Alert
- Rear Park Assist
- Rear Cross Traffic Alert
These systems are optional on the SLE, SLT and AT4 models while being standard on Denali trims.
What’s New From the 2021 GMC Terrain?
The 2022 GMC Terrain introduces several new elements that stop short of being called a full redesign. For the 2022 model year, GMC has revised the front fascia and grille for the entire 2022 Terrain lineup, introduced the AT4 trim grade and made the Elevation Edition package available for SLE and SLT models. Additionally, the automaker made access to the Apple CarPlay and Android Auto systems wireless for all trim grades.
